Weekly Update: April 8, 2024

This week, I’m thrilled to share our journey towards Fairness for Every Generation with Budget 2024. 🇨🇦 For many young Canadians, the dream of doing as well of better than their parents might feel out of reach.

We are committed to:

Building more homes 🏠 and making life more affordable

Growing an economy that truly works for all of us 🌍

Some of the investment that we are making in Budget 2024 include:

🏠Launched the Canadian Renters’ Bill of Rights and a $15M Tenant Protection Fund to support our renters.

👧Expanded affordable, high-quality child care, aiming for $10-a-day.

🎒🍎Rolled out a National School Food Program to nourish the success of up to 400,000 children.

🏘️Invested in fast-tracking housing and introduced innovative solutions for sustainable living.

🤖Secured Canada’s edge in AI with a $2.4 billion investment, aiming for global leadership.

Pierre Poilievre would have you believe we’re better off alone, but I stand for community and collective success. Over the next two weeks, we’ll unveil even more measures to support your families and ensure every Canadian has a fair chance at success. Because that’s what fairness is all about.

🎉 And let’s not forget to celebrate together at Green Bowl Foods’ grand opening and Mayor West’s Maple Syrup Festival. Community is at the heart of what we do.

As we observe Eid al-Fitr, I extend my warmest wishes to the Muslim community. In times of challenge and celebration, let’s come together in unity and peace. 🌙 Eid Mubarak!

Stay tuned for more updates in a few weeks!

Hi Leah,

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp thinks the supply of new housing is going to decrease over the next few years, yet your government seems set on continuing the policies that have made buying and renting incredibly expensive. The definition insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It's time to get some new ideas or get out of the way. Telling us you're being fair is not the same as actually being fair.
