MPs from four political parties join the NGO Above Ground for a news conference on Parliament Hill. In attendance are MPs Leah Taylor Roy (Liberal), Laurel Collins (NDP), Monique Pauzé (Bloc Québécois) and Mike Morrice (Green) as well as Shawn Katz (Above Ground communications officer).
The speakers are calling on the federal government to cut all fossil fuel subsidies, end carbon capture and storage, and increase taxes on the gas and oil industry. The government has committed to publishing by fall 2024 a framework to phase out domestic public financing for fossil fuels. (no interpretation)
