July 26-27 Tisha B'Av
July 26-27 Tisha B'Av
Our Jewish neighbours and friends will observe Tisha B’Av today, a day of communal mourning. Tisha B’Av commemorates various tragedies that afflicted the Jewish people throughout history, particularly the destruction of the two temples in 586 BCE and 70 CE. Tisha B’av is the culmination of a three-week period of mourning. The day is marked by fasting and abstention from pleasurable activities.
